Tekkaman Blade is one of the most famous anime series in Japan. It has been released for quite some time now, but only recently has it risen to international acclaim. This is because it was started by a company named Studio Ironhorse which had never produced an anime before. Tekkaman Blade is co-directed by Keita Amemiya and Yoshiyuki Tomino, two of the most renowned creators in the business. The opening of this anime is one of the most famous in existence. It starts off with a dark, loud, rapid-paced string of heavy drums which are soon followed by the episode's title. The drums are kept up while images of various space crafts fly across the screen. The drums slow down, soon followed by the image of the main character, Tekkaman Blade fighting an enemy. At this point more atmospheric music begins playing while the viewer is treated to a look at Blade's incredible speed and strength. Then there is some more quick fighting scenes while Blade's theme continues to play. After a while, Tekkaman Blade turns around and stares straight into the camera as the music dies down. The rest of the episode follows this basic formula to an almost perfect sequence. The music featured in this movie is used to great effect throughout the entire film. It is very varied and breaks away from Tekkaman Blade's normal heavy rock theme a number of times. The song "Lightning Speed" plays during sword fights and shows off all of Blade's superhuman speed and agility. "Transformation" plays during all of the times that Blade has to switch between his human form and his mecha form (he is never shown transforming in between fights). The problem with this song is that the lyrics are very unclear. The lyrics are either lost or just completely unintelligible. "Light in the Dark" and "Promise in Forever" both play when Blade and his opponent fight for the first time. The music that can be found on the soundtrack for this movie consists of a very diverse style of rock music. A song called "Cat Walk," which is sung by a singer named Yuki Aoyama, features many parts of Tekkaman Blade's theme throughout its song such as drums and synthesizers. Other songs such as "Lightning Speed," "Transformation," and my favorite, "The Battle," all fit in perfectly to fit with the sequences they play at. This anime spends a good portion of its running time with Blade fighting opponents. The fights are very well choreographed, especially the end fight with Dark Schneider. The enemy's are extremely powerful however, and there is some back story on all of them. Some of the opponents are more interesting than others while some are just plain annoying. Some opponents make their entire lives devoted to killing Tekkaman Blade while others have some other motive in doing so. Due to the fact that this anime was originally written by Yukikazu Okada, who wrote one of the greatest animes of all time called Space Battleship Yamato, it is not hard to see why it is so good. eccc085e13
